Five Wounded In Tuesday Shootings Across Chicago

CHICAGO (STMW) -- At least five people were wounded in shootings Tuesday across Chicago.

Most recently, a man was shot and critically wounded in the Canaryville neighborhood on the South Side. The 23-year-old was driving in the 4100 block of South Halsted about 9:30 p.m. when someone in a red Dodge Durango started shooting at him, police said. He was shot in the arms and torso and taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.

Less than an hour earlier, a 29-year-old man was shot in the Southwest Side Lawndale neighborhood. He was standing on the sidewalk in the 1600 block of South St. Louis about 8:55 p.m. when someone exited a vehicle nearby and opened fire, police said. The man was shot in the right forearm and took himself to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in good condition.

Shortly after 7:30 p.m., two 17-year-old boys were shot in the South Chicago neighborhood. They were in the 8100 block of South Kingston when a black sedan drove past and someone inside opened fire, police said. One teen was shot in the left hand, and the other in the right hand. Both were taken to South Shore Hospital in good condition.

Tuesday's first shooting happened more than 19 hours earlier in the Irving Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side. A 23-year-old man was walking in the 4500 block of West Belmont at 12:05 a.m. when he heard gunfire and realized he'd been shot in the shoulder, police said. He was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the shoulder, police said. His condition was stabilized.
