First The Snow, Now The Crazy Battle Over 'Dibs'
By John Dodge
CHICAGO (CBS) -- The logic goes like this: A citizen spends an hour or more digging their vehicle from a snow-packed tomb, said person should get to save that spot.
It's considered a reward for the effort.
Others say the act of calling 'dibs' is selfish. Citizens should do a good deed and allow others to benefit.
Social media has predictably jumped into the debate.
In Avondale, there was a nasty note left in the snow for one car owner.
On the Chicago Reddit page, there was lots of discussion about how dibs in that neighborhood had become crazy.
A Facebook page, asking people to share crazy dibs photos has emerged. The photo of the lovely table setting for four (below) was photographed by Brendan Gardiner in 2014.
An anti-dibs Facebook page is on their own crusade. One person scored a few chairs from the street.
