Ebola Scare Draws Firefighters To O'Hare

(CBS) -- United Flight 1543 from New York's LaGuardia Airport landed at O'Hare Monday afternoon amid reports of  a person feeling ill, but an official said there was no basis for fears that the passenger may have contracted the Ebola virus.

Firefighters who responded to O'Hare transported a 70-year-old woman to Chicago's Resurrection Hospital, the Chicago Fire Department says.

"The pilot sought medical assistance for a passenger who was vomiting. Given the heightened awareness regarding Ebola, and out of an abundance of caution, the passenger was evaluated closely while other passengers waited on the plane, the passenger had no fever or other symptoms," Chicago Department of Aviation Spokeswoman Karen Pride said in a prepared statement.

Officials weren't immediately sure what the woman's illness was.

There were 167 people on board the plane.

There was no hazardous materials spill as initial reports may have said.
