Firefighters Battle Extra-Alarm Fire In Lincoln Park

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Several people were in need of shelter early Friday after an extra-alarm fire broke out at a Lincoln Park neighborhood apartment building on the North Side.

Firefighters responded to the 2-11 blaze at the three-story building about 3:10 a.m. in the 2600 block of North Lincoln Avenue, said Fire Media Affairs spokesman Will Knight.

Knight said heavy smoke appeared on all three floors of the building.

No injuries were reported in the fire, but "several" people were displaced and would be provided shelter by their family members, Knight said.

The blaze was extinguished about 5 a.m., Knight said. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
