Firefighters battle blaze at out-of-business dollar store on Chicago's Northwest Side

Dollar store fire in Logan Square

CHICAGO (CBS)-- Dozens of firefighters battled a blaze at an out-of-business dollar store in Logan Square just after midnight Wednesday morning.

The Chicago Fire Department said firefighters responded to the vacant storefront at 2754-56 N. Milwaukee Ave., where the fire had started in the back of the building.

The storefront used to house the Dollar Town Plus discount store, which featured prominent overhead signs in English and Spanish advertising such items as bedspreads, blankets, sheets, toys, and cigarettes -- with wholesale prices available to the public.

Debris was left scattered across the sidewalk as firefighters battled the blaze.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Firefighters are also working to determine the extent of the damage.
