Fire damages house, displaces resident in Evanston, Illinois

EVANSTON, Ill. (CBS) -- A fire damaged a house in north suburban Evanston this weekend—leaving one person displaced.

At 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Evanston firefighters were called to 1017 Greenleaf St. between Oak and Maple avenues—across the street from the Evanston Friends (Quakers) Meetinghouse.

Firefighters saw smoke coming from the house, and immediately called for a working fire response to bring in additional resources.

The fire was contained to the living room and chimney within half an hour after an aggressive attack by firefighters, and structural damage was limited, the Evanston Fire Department said.

One person was displaced, but no one was injured.
