Fire breaks out in apartment building on Chicago's Southwest Side

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A fire sent flames shooting out of a third-story window in an apartment building in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood early Monday morning.

The fire broke out around 1:30 a.m. in the building on the northwest corner of 63rd Street and Albany Avenue.

As seen in video from the scene, the building houses storefronts on the ground floor and apartments on the upper two floors. Overhead signs mark a storefront facing 63rd Street as Midwest Premium Foods and Midwest Quality Meats, while the storefront right at the corner is vacant.

The apartments damaged by the fire face 63rd Street, which was blocked by fire equipment as firefighters battled the blaze.

Firefighters late Monday were still investigating what sparked the flames.
