Fight Over Socks At Target Leads To Fatal Stabbing
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man is in custody for a fatal stabbing, reportedly over socks, outside a Target store in the North Side Uptown neighborhood Sunday night.
A 49-year-old man was stabbed in the neck at 9:45 p.m. during an argument in the 4400 block of North Broadway, police said.
He was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he later died, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner's office. His name was withheld pending notification of his family.
An autopsy Sunday found the victim died of the stab wound and his death was ruled a homicide, the medical examiner's office said.
In a tweet late Sunday, Ald. James Cappleman said the fight happened over socks outside the Uptown Target, located at 4466 N. Broadway.
A 58-year-old man was in police custody as of early Monday, police said. Charges had not yet been filed.
