Fatal Tornado Victim's Dog Found, Alive
(CBS) -- The missing dog of a woman killed in this week's tornado in northern Illinois has been found, alive but scared.
Missy the German shepherd was recovered by family members Saturday afternoon, Tanya Robinson tells CBS 2. The dog had been spotted in video following Thursday's devastating tornado, but was apparently traumatized by the event and was on the run, she says.
Missy was the pet of Geri Schultz, 67, one of two Fairdale residents killed when a tornado leveled the small rural town near Rockford.
The dog will need to be isolated for awhile, says Robinson, Schultz's daughter.
"We can't have her around people right now," she says.
Robinson says the recovery of the dog is some small good news for the family, following the loss of Schultz.
