Family Sets Up Fundraiser To Pay For Search For Missing Woman, Toddler

CHICAGO (CBS) -- The family of a missing Gary, Indiana, woman was hoping a GoFundMe campaign would help them bring her home.

Diamond Bynum, 21, and her 2-year-old nephew, King Walker, disappeared on July 25. Their family has been searching ever since.

Police have said Bynum is mentally disabled, and might have gotten lost while walking her nephew from their new home in Gary to a local store. Bynum's family moved to Gary from Hammond in February, and police have said she is not yet familiar with the area around her new home in the 500 block of Matthews Street.

Several searches have been conducted since they went missing. Teams have gathered and gone door to door, in the hope that someone has seen Bynum and her nephew. Police have joined in that effort, and passed out fliers.

Police said there have been several sightings of the two, most recently at a Hammond bus stop, and a McDonald's in Gary.

"We're not giving up, and we are coming for you, no matter where you are," said King Walker's grandfather, Eugene Bynum Jr. "We're going to search every place, every house, every abandoned building. We will not stop until we bring both of you home."

The family has set up a GoFundMe page, with the goal of raising money to help future search efforts.

"We're just trying to get all the resources we can get to look for them," said King's mother, Ariana Walker. "There's a lot of abandoned houses. I did like 15 of them yesterday, and it's just so many, so we really need help."

As of Saturday evening, the GoFundMe page had raised $245 for the search effort.
