Family Holds Out Hope Missing Naperville Central Grad Will Be Found Alive
(CBS) -- Friends and family held a trio of vigils in California and Illinois for a missing Naperville Central High school graduate who disappeared six months ago.
The family of 19-year-old Bryce Laspisa hasn't heard from him since Aug. 30.
"I believe he is out there and he's safe," Laspisa's uncle, Brian David, tells CBS 2's Pamela Jones.
He was among dozens of family and friends who gathered to mark the six-month mark of the disappearance.
Laspisa and his family had moved to California -- their dreams of warmth
chilled when the young man's Toyota Highlander turned up at a lake in L.A. County.
"You can't believe the feeling. It's the most empty feeling, and I'm only an uncle," David said.
Laspisa had visited his girlfriend's apartment in Chico, Calif. and was reportedly driving to his mom's house in Laguna Niguel more than seven hours south.
"He made it an hour and a half away and that's where they found the vehicle turned over," his uncle said.
Supporters believe someone has seen him alive.
