Ex-Bear Terrell Cleared Of Drug, Battery Charges

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Former Chicago Bears wide receiver David Terrell was cleared this week of drug and battery charges stemming from a 2013 arrest.

Terrell, 35, had been charged with one felony count of manufacture or delivery of 30-500 grams of cannabis, and one misdemeanor count of battery, authorities said.

Judge Joseph Kazmierski found him not guilty on the charges last Friday, Cook County State's Attorney's office spokesman Stephen Campbell said.

Terrell was arrested in August 2013 after police responded to a call of people smoking marijuana in a building in the 3900 block of South Calumet Avenue. Authorities claimed Terrell and two others were found with cannabis and "materials to package and distribute narcotics" in plain view, police said.

Police had also claimed Terrell struck an officer in the hand during his arrest.

Through his attorney, Terrell adamantly denied any wrongdoing at the time of his arrest.
