Employees zip-tied during armed robbery at AT&T store in Chicago suburb
OAK LAWN, Ill. (CBS) – An investigation is underway after two-armed men zip-tied employees during a robbery at an AT&T store in Oak Lawn Monday evening.
The robbery happened just after 8 p.m. at the store, located in the 5200 block of 95th Street.
Oak Lawn police said two offenders entered the business through the front door. Once inside, one of the robbers pulled out a handgun and ordered three employees to the back of the store.
They demanded access to the inventory room where a fourth employee was located. All four were bound with zip-ties at the hands and feet inside the room.
The robbers filled two bags with merchandise before fleeing through the back door - making off with an estimated 90 electronic devices and over $7,000 in cash, according to police.
The employees were able to free themselves and call police. No customers were inside at the time of the incident and no injuries were reported.
The offenders were described as two Black males: one standing 6 feet tall with a slim build wearing a black ski mask, black clothes, tan shoes, and black and green gloves. The other stands between 5-feet-6 to 6 feet tall with a slim build wearing a black ski mask, black clothes, black shoes, and black and green gloves.
Investigation into the robbery remains ongoing.
