Pregnant woman missing from Gary, Indiana, for more than a month

Frantic search on for missing pregnant woman in Gary, Indiana

GARY, Ind. (CBS) -- Police in Gary, Indiana, are searching for a missing woman who was 9 months pregnant when she disappeared last month.

Emma Baum, 25, was last seen near 25th Avenue and Connecticut Street in Gary on Oct. 10. She was expecting another child, and was due any day than she vanished.

The neighborhood where Baum vanished is a dismal, desolate place—and her friends and family have been there looking for her and for clues into her disappearance.

They have been out looking for Baum for countless days.

Volunteers have searched overgrown fields, knocked on doors, and passed out flyers to neighbors. Even K9's are involved in the search to find Baum.

Baum was last seen coming to one specific house in the neighborhood the Thursday she was last seen or heard from. Her family said she came to see the father of her unborn child.

Baum's family is holding out hoping she is OK, but they admitted they will not stop until she is found.

"I have stopped people in their cars. I have stopped people walking. I have talked to anybody I could. We're looking in abandoned houses," said Emma Baum's siter, Hailey Baum.

"We're always going to look for her. I'm never going to stop looking for her," said Emma's mother, Jamie Baum. "My whole family will never stop looking for you, Emma."

Emma Baum is 5-foot-3 and weighs approximately 135 pounds. She often wears wigs and hairpieces, but her natural hair color is brown. She has several scars on her arms, and has multiple tattoos.

Baum already might have given birth.

Anyone who sees her is asked to call 911 or contact Gary Police Detective Salazar at (219) 881-1209.

Gary police said they have questioned multiple people in the case, including the father of the child who may or may not have been born by now. But no one was in custody in the missing persons case.
