Man Charged With Robbing Elmwood Park Gas Station
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A west suburban man has been charged with robbing a gas station at gunpoint in Elmwood Park late last year.
Johnny Ingram, 32, faces a felony count of armed robbery for the Nov. 24 hold-up at the Mobil station at 2144 N. Harlem Ave, according to Elmwood Park police.
He made off with about $400 in the 1:30 p.m. robbery and drove off before abandoning the vehicle about three blocks away and running, police said.
Investigators recovered fingerprints from the scene that linked Ingram to the crime, police said.
Video surveillance also captured him on camera, and a witness identified him in a police lineup after he was arrested Wednesday in Oak Park, according to police, who allege that Ingram later confessed.
"This was a case of solid, methodical detective work," Elmwood Park Police Chief Frank Fagiano said in a prepared statement.
Ingram, of the 2100 block of 51st Court in Cicero, is due in bond court Friday. If convicted, he faces between six and 30 years in prison.
