Elgin Councilwoman Sworn In To Replace Farnham In House

ELGIN, Ill. (AP) -- Residents in suburban Chicago's 43rd House District have a new state representative.

Elgin City Council member Anna Moeller was sworn in Sunday to replace former state Rep. Keith Farnham, who resigned earlier this month.

Democratic Party officials chose Moeller as Farnham's replacement on Saturday, and she took the oath of office Sunday at an Elgin restaurant.

Farnham resigned citing health reasons. The Elgin Democrat quit after agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement seized computers from his home and offices in a search for child pornography.

Moeller was most recently on Elgin's city council and served as executive director of the McHenry County Council of Governments.

The 43rd District includes Elgin as well as portions of Barrington Hills, Carpentersville, East Dundee and South Elgin.
