Illinois senators argue for federal support to modernize Chicago's Union Station

CHICAGO (CBS) – Some big changes are coming to Union Station.

U.S. Sens. Tammy Duckworth and Dick Durbin provided an update on modernization plans coming to the train station.

"Chicago has a good story to tell," Durbin said. "More railroad trackage radiating in more directions than any other city in North America. It's about location, location, and location."

Duckworth added that the Midwest's biggest strength is "as the name suggests, we're in the middle of everything. This is my message that I take back to Washington. It's no wonder that over time that Chicago has become the epicenter of passenger, commuter, freight rail.

They're trying to rally federal support for the Chicago Hub Improvement program.
