DePaul Rallies From 13-Down, Beats Marquette 61-58

ROSEMONT, Ill. (AP) — Billy Garrett Jr. and Jamee Crockett rallied DePaul from a 13-point deficit to beat Marquette 61-58 in the Big East opener for both teams on Wednesday.

Garrett scored eight of his 19 points in the last 3:31. His 3-pointer tied the game at 55 at 1:56 and his free throw 42 seconds later gave DePaul (7-7) the lead for good. Crockett extended the Blue Demons to 58-55 with 44 seconds to play.

Marquette (8-5) twice closed within two and DePaul made 3 of 4 free throws to lead 61-58. Duane Wilson missed a 3-point attempt with 6 seconds left. Matt Carlino chased down the rebound and missed a 35-footer at the buzzer.

DePaul trailed most of the game with Marquette's largest lead at 49-36 with 11:46 left. From there, DePaul outscored the Golden Eagles 25-9 by forcing eight turnovers for easy transition baskets. Crockett added six points during that stretch.
