DePaul Basketball Players Give Tips To Kids With Epilepsy
(CBS) -- Kids with epilepsy took part in a basketball camp today, getting pointers from DePaul University basketball players, reports WBBM's Mike Krauser.
DePaul junior guard R.J. Curington was all smiles and so were the kids as he and other DePaul players took part in the Bounce Out The Stigma Basketball Camp at Proviso East High School.
"It doesn't slow them down, they keep on going and I love that," Curington said.
Curington is a summer intern with the Danny Did Foundation.
"The Danny Did Foundation was started in 2009 after my nephew Danny died from a seizure that he had during his sleep and he loved sports, loved basketball," said. Tom Stanton, the foundation's executive director. "We want to make kids with epilepsy and everyone with epilepsy feel included and this camp is a place where they can come and feel that way. If the seizure takes place, everything doesn't come to a screeching halt."
Stanton says there is still a lot of work to be done to help people understand and accept those with epilepsy.
