Denis Savard Makes One-Night Cameo In "A Christmas Carol"

CHICAGO (CBS) -- The audience at the Goodman Theatre's "A Christmas Carol" Wednesday night had a special treat when Blackhawks legend Denis Savard took the stage.

Savard had one line - wishing Merry Christmas to everyone.

Before the performance, the Hockey Hall of Fame player and former Blackhawks coach spoke to the media in his period costume, and gave a Blackhawks sweater to the actor who plays Tiny Tim.

Savard's one-night-only appearance came six years to the day after another Blackhawks great, Bobby Hull, performed in "A Christmas Carol" at the Goodman.

Savard said his prior acting experience was limited to a couple of moments on the ice in which he took a dive for a penalty.

Other famous Chicago athletes who have performed in the Goodman's annual production of "A Christmas Carol" include Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher, Bulls legend Scottie Pippen, and White Sox third baseman and manager Robin Ventura.
