Dangerous heat to make Monday in Chicago feel like 100 to 105 degrees

Temperatures in Chicago area will feel like 100s with incoming heat wave.

CHICAGO (CBS) — Dangerous heat is in the Chicago forecast for the next couple of days. Monday will start off humid and very warm, with temperatures in the mid-70s. Then, a mostly sunny sky in the afternoon will boost highs to the mid-90s. A very humid environment will make it feel like 100 to 105 degrees in most locations.

A strong ridge of high pressure will build right over the area on Tuesday, allowing the worst of the heat to occur Tuesday afternoon. Highs on Tuesday will be in the upper 90s, but the very humid air will make it feel like 105 to 110 degrees.

Not much relief will come at night, with lows only dipping to the mid-70s through Wednesday morning. With these dangerously hot days and uncomfortable and warm nights, the risk of heat-related health impacts will be possible through at least Wednesday.

There's a chance for storms late Tuesday, and because our atmosphere will be so hot and unstable, storms that do develop will likely turn severe quickly. Additional storm chances will be with us for the middle and end of the workweek.

Temperatures remain above normal for the week, with the next below average temperature day with low humidity not occurring until next Sunday.
