2 Shootings In 7 Hours On Dan Ryan Expressway; No Injuries Reported
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Illinois State Police responded to two shootings in a span of seven hours Monday morning on the Dan Ryan Expressway, although no injuries were reported in either attack.
The first shooting happened around 12:50 a.m. in the southbound local lanes near 61st Street. Video shows the victim's car with several bullet holes on the passenger side.
Illinois State Police said the victims' car crashed on the roadway after the shooting, but neither the female driver nor the male passenger were injured.
The southbound lanes were closed at Garfield/55th Street while police investigated, and reopened around 5:30 a.m.
Around 7:25 a.m., Illinois State Police responded to the 87th Street toll plaza on the Chicago Skyway, for a report of a shooting that happened just moments before in the southbound express lanes of the Dan Ryan Expressway near 63rd Street, not far from the Skyway.
The driver was the only person in the car at the time of the shooting, and was not injured.
No further information was available on either shooting.
Illinois State Police have responded to 126 expressway shootings this year.
