Cutler Out, Jeffery In For Bears Against Cowboys; Hoyer Starts At Quarterback

ARLINGTON, Texas (CBS) -- Perhaps Bears coach John Fox actually had a hope that quarterback Jay Cutler could play against the Cowboys on Sunday, but he was most likely just playing his cards tight.
Either way, it will be Brian Hoyer starting for the Bears, with Cutler ruled out for the game due to his thumb injury. Fortunately for Hoyer, he will have star receiver Alshon Jeffery lining up out wide. Jeffery is active for the game after missing much of the week with knee soreness.
Cutler and Jeffery headlined a lengthy injury report during the week of preparation for the Cowboys, a list that included as many as 15 players and 12 starters. The Bears did rule out nose tackle Eddie Goldman (ankle) and running back Ka'Deem Carey (hamstring), both of whom were left behind Saturday.
The Bears' inactives include Cutler, Goldman, Danny Trevathan, Kyle Fuller, Bryce Callahan and Eric Kush. That means that safety Adrian Amos has returned after dealing with a concussion.
Rookie Nick Kwiatkoski will start at inside linebacker next to Jerrell Freeman, and Will Sutton starts at nose tackle in place of Goldman.
Kickoff between the Bears and Cowboys comes at 7:30 p.m. from Arlington.
