Cubs Sign 3rd-Round Selection Zagunis
(CBS) The Cubs have signed third-round selection Mark Zagunis, a catcher out of Virginia Tech, they announced Wednesday afternoon.
Chicago has now signed 21 of its first 22 selections. Only sixth-round pick Dylan Cease, a right-hander out of Milton High in Georgia, remains unsigned. In all, the Cubs have signed 25 of their 40 picks.
The 21-year-old Zagunis batted .330 with two homers and 39 RBIs in 53 games for the Hokies this past season, when he was second-team all-ACC.
