Cubs Prospect Bryant Hits 2 Homers In Vegas Hometown Game

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Cubs third base prospect Kris Bryant got into the game late, then hit two home runs in front of his hometown Las Vegas fans to highlight Chicago's 3-1 win over the Oakland Athletics on Saturday.

Bryant, who leads baseball with six home runs in spring training, was out of the starting lineup because of a sore right shoulder. He homered as a pinch-hitter for designated hitter Anthony Rizzo, and homered again three innings later in the split-squad game.

It's the second time this week Bryant hit two homers in a game. He momentarily upstaged Will Ferrell while the actor played center field for the Angels on Thursday.

Bryant, who went to high school in Las Vegas, became the headliner in his hometown's annual big league weekend.

Kyle Hendricks threw five hitless innings for Chicago, striking out three.

Max Muncy drove in Oakland's run with a sacrifice fly in the eighth.
