Cubs Fans Locally Still Hopeful For World Series Win

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Cubs fans were quick to forget Tuesday night's loss, looking ahead to Wednesday night's game and the rest of the series, knowing that their Cubbies still have a shot at history.

The bar inside Harry Caray's in River North was filled with excited, but ever nervous life-long Cubs fans.

Cubs fan Ted Budd is a season ticket holder and rooted for them but to no avail.

"I flew in from Florida this afternoon to be here for the game tonight," Budd says.

For some, their love for the North Siders began overseas.

Fan Carlos Purdente came from the Philippines and arrived in Chicago in 1997.

"Cubs all the way," he said.

"It's kind of an honor to come here for a World Series when the World Series is at stake," fan Kate Krenn, says.

It's a chance to watch history, but Krenn is hoping to be at the game Friday. She's willing to barter away a family momento in exchange for tickets.

"I have a ticket stub from when my mom came to a game in 1946," she said.

And at least Cleveland Indians fan who was at Game 1 was in Wrigleyville on Wednesday evening, respectful in enemy territory.

"It was electric. It was a lot of fun," Patrick Cartellonne said.
