Cubs-Cardinals Tickets At A Premium For Game 4, But Beware Counterfeits
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Another Cubs win means playoff tickets are still going for a premium on many broker sites, as the Cubs look to close out the National League Division Series against the Cardinals on Tuesday afternoon.
Tuesday's game has the potential to be historic for the Cubs. They have never clinched a playoff series on their home field before.
Tickets for Game 4 at Wrigley Field were up plenty on StubHub, with standing room only tickets going for at least $130, upper-deck seats selling for at least $140, bleacher seats starting at $175 apiece and infield box seats going for as much as $10,000 each.
If you resort to trying to buy tickets on the street, be wary of counterfeit tickets. The Cubs said they seized about 100 fake tickets for Monday night's Game 3 from fans trying to use them to get into the stadium.
Counterfeit tickets can be hard to spot, but check the back of any tickets you might buy. A real ticket has MLB logo watermarks scattered throughout, whereas fake tickets have no watermarks behind the writing.
Another confiscated Cubs ticket featured a gray background instead of the white one shown on official tickets.
The team was warning fans to beware of anyone selling tickets through third-party websites and said people should look for approved secondary market sellers.
Meantime, if you're the mayor or an alderman, playoff tickets at face value aren't so hard to come by. The Cubs offered each of the city's 50 aldermen a pair of terrace reserved tickets for the standard price of $64 to $74 each. A team spokesman said the tickets were not comped or offered at a discount, so he sees nothing wrong with it.
The Cubs host the Cardinals in Game 4 of the NLDS at 3:37 p.m. Pregame coverage on WBBM 780 AM begins at 3 p.m. During the game, Newsradio will continue on 105.9 FM.
