Cubs, Blackhawks Fans Unite On Big Day For Photos With Stanley Cup
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Chicago might be in the midst of Cubs fever, but there's still a championship Blackhawks team to celebrate. Blackhawks fans can take pictures of the Stanley Cup on Wednesday at Millennium Park or at the Field Museum.
As they waited in line to take a picture with the Stanley Cup, Blackhawks and Cubs fans alike said the day is the best of both worlds.
A long line of fans snaked its way around Pritzker Pavilion to get a picture with the Stanley Cup. Those who love both the Cubs and Blackhawks said the moment is the realization of a lifelong dream.
"It's very historic,"Alan Rodriguez said. "We're lucky to be around at this time, where for the most part, for some of our teams, we're seeing a lot of success, and it really is a lot of fun to be in Chicago right now."
Carlita Joe said the day is so special, so she brought her 8-year-old daughter to see the Stanley Cup a day after the Cubs clinched the National League Division Series against the Cardinals.
"It means everything to me," she said. "I'm a cancer survivor, and I live everyday like it's my last. I took my daughter out of school today, so we're going to enjoy this day."
Julie Bereckis came wearing authentic Blackhawks attire to take her picture.
"I've been wearing it to every home game since the Winter Classic at Wrigley Field (in 2009). It's game attire. Every game," she said.
The Stanley Cup was on display from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Millennium Park. After that, it will be at the Field Museum, where fans can take a photo with the cup and Sue the T. Rex from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
