Cubs Acquire RHP Spencer Patton From Rangers
(CBS) The Cubs have acquired minor league right-hander Spencer Patton from the Rangers in a low-profile trade Friday. In return, Chicago sent minor league infielder Frandy Delarosa back to Texas.
The 27-year-old Patton was 1-1 with a 9.00 ERA in 24 innings for the Rangers in 2015. He also was 2-0 with a 1.67 ERA at Triple-A Round Rock this past season.
He had a 0.96 ERA in 9 1/3 innings in 2014 for the Rangers.
Patton is an Urbana, Ill., native who was selected in the 24th round of the 2011 draft by the Royals.
The 19-year-old Delarosa hit .273 at short-season Single-A Eugene last season with no homers and 30 RBIs in 62 games.
The Cubs' 40-man roster now stands at 33.
