Cubs Acquire LHP Giovanni Soto From Indians

(CBS) Ahead of their home opener Monday night, the Cubs made a minor move.

Chicago acquired left-hander Giovanni Soto from the Cleveland Indians for cash considerations, the team announced. Soto was optioned to Triple-A Iowa.

The 24-year-old Soto tossed 3 1/3 scoreless innings across six appearances for the Indians in 2015, his debut season. Soto went 2-1 with a 2.68 ERA in 53 2/3 innings at Triple-A last season. He was originally a 21st-round selection in 2009 by the Tigers.

He has a career 3.10 ERA in the minor leagues.
