CHICAGO (CBS) -- Service on the Red, Brown, and Purple lines is slowly getting back to normal, after a man was struck and killed by a CTA train Monday morning at the Belmont station in Lakeview.

All Red, Brown, and Purple line trains were halted for nearly an hour between Addison and Fullerton, causing major delays on the rest of those three lines. Service resumed on two tracks around 8:40 a.m., and on all four tracks shortly after 10 a.m.
Residual delays were expected to continue as trains begin moving on all four tracks again.
While Red, Brown, and Purple line service was disrupted, CTA officials advised riders to use other trains or CTA buses, such as Lake Shore Drive express buses, or buses to the Blue Line.

Shuttle buses also operated between Southport and Fullerton for Brown and Purple Line riders, and between Addison and Fullerton for Red Line users.
For some, the disruption doubled their commute time Monday morning.
