CTA Orange Line service resumes after "comparatively minor" derailment

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Normal service has resumed on the CTA Orange Line after a "comparatively minor" derailment Monday morning halted trains on a line between Midway International Airport and the Loop.

About 20 passengers were on an Orange Line Train when one car derailed around 6:30 a.m. near the 35th/Archer station in the McKinley Park neighborhood.

"The derailment was comparatively minor, and there were no injuries reported," a CTA spokesperson said.

Even before the derailment, the CTA had halted service on part of the Orange Line due to "track conditions." 

After the derailment, service on the Orange Line was suspended between the 35th/Archer and Ashland stations. Shuttle buses were operating between Midway and the Adams/Wabash stop in the Loop, including between the 35th/Archer and Ashland stops.

Shortly after 1:45 p.m., the CTA said regular service had resumed on the Orange Line but warned commuters to expect residual delays.
