Food truck catches fire under CTA Brown Line; service back to normal

CTA Brown Line Service back to normal after truck fire under tracks at Western Stop

CHICAGO (CBS) – CTA Brown Line service is back to normal after a food truck caught fire underneath the tracks at the Western stop Sunday morning. 

The fire caused service to be suspended just before 5 a.m. between Kimball and Belmont due to track conditions and resulted in major delays. 

Chicago police said around 2:15 a.m. officers responded to a fire that happened underneath the tracks in the 4600 block of North Western Avenue. Fire crews arrived and extinguished the blaze. The truck was a total loss. 

According to Ald. Matt Martin (47th), a food truck caught fire while parked underneath the tracks. 

No Injuries were reported.  

The tracks sustained electrical and structural damage as a result. 

The Office of Fire Investigation was on the scene to inspect the cause of the fire.
