Crime Stoppers Offer Reward For DeKalb Theft, Burglary
CHICAGO (CBS) -- The DeKalb County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward to gather information about two crimes that happened in the northwest suburb in the last two months.
The group is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information about an attempted theft at Becky Beck's Jewelry, 303 E. Hillcrest Drive, and a burglary to a vehicle at a suburban apartment complex, according to a Crime Stoppers press release.
A man and a woman tried stealing jewelry at Becky Beck's Jewelry about 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 12 while the clerk was distracted, according to Crime Stoppers. They drove away in a brown or gray van.
The man was described as white, 6 feet tall and thin, with a teardrop tattoo on his face and wearing sunglasses, according to Crime Stoppers. There was no description of the woman.
The burglary happened overnight Nov. 7 at Suburban Apartments at 1400 Twombly Rd. in DeKalb, Crime Stoppers said. The owner of a 2005 gray Volkswagen Jetta reported that someone broke into his car and stole a large amount of cash.
