Crews rescue kayakers from weedy lagoon in north Chicago suburbs
WINNETKA, Ill. (CBS) -- Multiple kayakers were rescued after their watercraft was overturned in the Skokie Lagoon in north suburban Winnetka Tuesday afternoon.
The rescues took place in the Skokie Lagoons, near Forestway Drive south of Tower Road and east of the Edens Expressway.
An overturned red kayak was seen in the water. At least one person was dumped out.
At least two other kayaks were seen overturned or flooded nearby.
Rescuers came in on foot got into the weed-choked water to get lifelines and life rings out to the kayakers, and got them onto shore.
