Woman Killed In Crash On I-80/94 Near State Line

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A fatal crash on eastbound Interstate 80/94 closed all but one lane of the expressway for more than an hour-and-a-half early Tuesday near the Illinois-Indiana border.

Illinois State Police responded to a crash involving a car and a semi-trailer truck on I-80/94 near Wentworth Avenue in south suburban Lansing around 5:50 a.m. A female passenger in the car was killed in the crash. Her husband was at the wheel of the car.

Elizabeth Anderson, 57, of Ontario, Canada, was pronounced dead at Munster Community Hospital at 6:23 a.m., according to the Lake County (Ind.) Coroner's office. She suffered blunt force trauma.

Police blocked the four right lanes of 80/94 as they investigated the crash and removed the damaged vehicles from the roadway.

Crews began reopening all lanes of eastbound 80/94 shortly after 7:30 a.m.
