CPS Retirees Pick Up Pension Checks After Delay
(CBS) -- CPS retirees hit the line early Saturday morning to pick up their pension checks.
The Chicago Teachers Pension Fund issued about 100 checks Saturday after August payments did not go through on Thursday.
A couple hundred retirees showed up Friday demanding their pension checks. The group takes full responsibility saying it was due to human error.
"They need their money, taxes were due yesterday as I understand, other people had issues, we are doing our best to get it all taken care of," said Frances Radencic of the Chicago Teachers Pension Fund.
"This is nonsense hopefully they'll learn from their mistakes," said CPS retiree Bill Mandeville.
The group said the money should clear at all banks by Tuesday at the latest.
