Cops: Man Stabbed In Groin After Woodstock High School Fight

(STMW) -- A 19-year-old man was stabbed in the groin in retaliation for an after-school fight in northwest suburban Woodstock.

At 3:43 p.m., the man was stabbed in the front yard of a home in the 200 block of South Madison Street by a teen boy who acted in self-defense, according to a press release from the Woodstock Police Department.

The man was transported by Flight for Life to Advocate Condell Hospital in Libertyville in critical condition.

The altercation that led to the stabbing was in retaliation for a previous after-school fight, but police said the teenagers from the fight were not directly involved in the stabbing incident.

All of the teenagers involved in both incidents are high school students attending Woodstock Schools in District 200, according to the statement.

Police continue to investigate the incident, and no charges have been filed Friday.
