Cooler day ahead in Chicago with high swim risk along area beaches
CHICAGO (CBS) — Gusty winds and breaking waves on the lakefront settle overnight as a cool high-pressure system slides into place.
This will lead to calm winds and a brisk start Tuesday morning, with lows outside of Chicago in the 40s.
A quick warming trend dominates the forecast for the rest of the week, eventually bringing highs in the 90s on Father's Day and even warmer record-high temperatures next Monday.
Along with the heat and humidity come periodic chances of thunderstorms. Only an isolated storm is expected on Tuesday and Wednesday, but severe thunderstorms look more likely on Thursday when a Weather Alert is in effect.
