Couple winning Cook County's first marriage license of the year got married

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A celebration for Cook County's newest married couple -13 years in the making!

The lucky couple who won Cook County's first marriage license drawing tied the knot Tuesday. Mandy Fila and Daniel Ferguson, from west suburban Brookfield, beat out more than 100 couples.

Cook County Clerk Karen Yarbrough officiated the wedding ceremony Tuesday morning at the clerk's office in The Loop.

The couple takes home a number of gifts, including sparkling wine, wedding flowers, cooking and dance lessons along with a gourmet dinner box. The couple wanted to get married this year - but hadn't done much planning.

After the ceremony, they headed to brunch with their 9-year-old daughter Emily and 6-year-old son Noah along with about 20 family members.

This is the first marriage of 2023. Congratulations to the beautiful couple!
