Cook County Jail Guard Charged With Scheming To Smuggle Pot Into Jail Through Sandwiches
(CBS) -- The FBI has put the bite on a Cook County Jail guard and a Chicago 911 supervisor and five others, for attempting to smuggle contraband into the jail, reports WBBM's Bob Roberts.
In June of last year allegedly offered guard Jason Marek a $200 bribe to smuggle pot, cigarettes, tobacco, alcohol, food and other contraband. Marek allegedly took the bribe but was caught when tried to smuggle three ounces of pot in two submarine sandwiches.
Miffed that Marek failed but unaware that he had been caught, inmate Price Johnson asked OEMC supervisor Stephanie Lewis for Marek's home address so he could extorted and coerced into smuggling other goods.
