Cardinal Blase Cupich visits Cook County Jail for Christmas service
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Cardinal Blase Cupich spent part of his Christmas morning with inmates at Cook County Jail.
Cardinal Cupich held a special Christmas Day service for the inmates and jail staff.
More than 100 attended.
The visit is an annual tradition.
Cardinal Cupich says he wants to remind the inmates that they can have a positive influence on each other and the rest of the world.
Cardinal Cupich also led midnight mass at Holy Name Cathedral, where hundreds of parishioners packed the pews.
It was the first "live broadcast" for the mass since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
