Construction Worker Injured In Fall On Far South Side

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A worker was injured Tuesday morning, after falling about 25 feet from a building under construction in the Riverdale neighborhood.

The Chicago Fire Department said the worker fell from the steel superstructure of a building near 138th Street and Park Avenue, onto The roof of another section of the building, about 25 feet below.

Crews used the bucket of a snorkel truck to lower the man to the ground after securing him to a Stokes basket, a rescue stretcher designed for use in confined spaces, or where there are obstacles to movement.

The 47-year-old man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition.
