Construction Barge Sinks In Chicago River

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A construction barge sank Thursday morning on the Chicago River.

The Chicago Department of Transportation confirmed the small equipment barge, which was being used as part of the project to expand the Chicago Riverwalk, sunk near the LaSalle Street bridge early Thursday.

It was unclear what caused the barge to sink.

The city has contacted salvage companies to pull the barge out of the water.
