College Of DuPage President Barred From Campus
(CBS) – The College of DuPage Board of Trustees voted Thursday night to put the school's embattled president on administrative leave, barring him from the campus amid multiple investigations.
Under the old board, President Robert Breuder had been granted a controversial severance package of more than $700,000, which some derided as a "golden parachute" at taxpayer expense. Meanwhile, there were questions about spending, including lavish dinners at COD's fine-dining restaurant.
Earlier this week, Breuder announced he was going on medical leave, a move that would have allowed him to return at a time of his choosing.
New Board Chairman Katherine Hamilton favored administrative leave instead. The panel, which includes three newly sworn members, opted for that strategy in a narrow 4-3 vote.
"This particular resolution says he should not come back on campus. We feel that's very important because there are three investigations right now," Hamilton tells CBS 2's Mike Parker.
One probe includes a federal investigation.
