Cold? When Encased Meats Are On The Menu, Who Cares?
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Even for weather-hardened Chicagoans, there are very few reasons to actually be outside today.
Work, of course, would be one.
Sausages would be another.
Especially Hot Doug's, which always draws a crowd.
And that was certainly the case for encased-meat fans on Monday when Doug Sohn launched a "pop up" event and Publican Quality Meats on Fulton in the West Loop.
By mid-morning, with wind chills around minus 15 degrees, the line stretched down the block as the doors opened at 10 a.m.
CBS 2's Ed Curran was there.
It's @HotDougs @PublicanQuality on Fulton. People waiting in single digit temps. Worth it! pic.twitter.com/uk9cRTkcyY

Emily Miller reports the line was long but workers were moving folks along at a decent pace.
It only took @iamK_Lee and I about a half-hour to get through the @hotdougs line. Can't wait! pic.twitter.com/LXq1KlUU0u

Worth the wait and the $9 cost for what Eater Chicago called "totally new creations."
