Clear And Crisp Start To Week, Ahead Of Mild And Wet Thanksgiving
CHICAGO (CBS) -- The next couple days will be unseasonably cold for Chicago, and while temperatures will be mild for Thanksgiving Day, it's likely to be a soggy holiday.
After a weekend that saw the biggest November snowstorm in more than 100 years, Monday started clear but cold, with temperatures still in the 20s as of 9 a.m.
The high was expected to reach only about 36 on Monday and Tuesday, which is about 8 degrees colder than normal for this time of year.
While temperatures should climb up into the 50s on Thanksgiving Day, heavy rainfall also is expected Wednesday night through Friday afternoon. Rain, fog, and low visibility all will be factors for anyone driving during that time.
The combination of warmer temperatures and rain also should lead to a lot of melting snow, according to the National Weather Service.
Friday will be a bit cooler than Thanksgiving Day, with a high of around 48, and then next weekend will see highs in the upper 30s.
