Cicero Police Officer Hurt When Car Speeds Away From Traffic Stop
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A Cicero police officer was slightly injured Thursday morning when a luxury car that had been pulled over for a traffic stop ran over the tip of one of his feet while fleeing.
Cicero police spokesman Ray Hanania said it happened at 32nd and Cicero as the officer was walking up to the black Jaguar after pulling over the driver.
Hanania said it was described to him as "a very minor incident." He said the officer did not want to go to the hospital, but was encouraged to do so by superiors, and went to MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn to be examined.
Cicero police chased the black Jaguar a short distance after the car ran over the officer's foot, but ended the chase after the car had gone into the city of Chicago. Hanania said Cicero police notified Chicago police to watch for the car.
