Chilling Weekend Weather Ahead For Chicago
A cold weekend is in store for Chicago, with temperatures and wind chills expected to approach the lowest recorded so far this year.
"I don't know if this weekend will be the coldest of the year, but we will struggle to stay above the single digits," said David Beachler of the National Weather Service.
Temperatures will be just above zero on Saturday and five to 10 degrees below on Sunday, Beachler said.
Chicago saw its coldest weather of 2015 in late January, with wind chills below 30, Beachler said. Saturday and Sunday nights will near those temperatures, with wind chills expected to hit 25 below zero.
Despite the chilling news, Beachler said it isn't likely Chicago will see heavy snow anytime soon.
"Not in the Chicago area," he said. "There will be some lake effect snow, but that will be in northwest Indiana."
