6 killed, 26 hurt in shootings across Chicago during Easter Weekend

CHICAGO (CBS) -- At least six people are dead, and 26 others were hurt following shootings across Chicago during Easter weekend as of Sunday. The ages of the victims range from 14 to 57.

In the first shooting of the weekend, a 29-year-old man was killed in the city's Auburn Gresham neighborhood. Chicago Police say the man was standing in a parking lot in the 800 block of West 87th at 9:18 p.m. when a silver sedan approached, and someone inside started shooting. Officers found the victim unresponsive on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds to the abdomen. The man was pronounced dead moments later. No one is in custody as Area Two detectives investigate. 

A 14-year-old was critically injured. The teen was standing outside around 11:25 a.m. in the 6300 block of South Stewart when he was approached by an unknown male, police said. That person then shot the victim once in the upper chest. The victim is in critical condition at Comer Children's Hospital.

In a mass shooting early Sunday morning in Austin, one woman was killed, and four other women were hurt. The shooting happened inside Poppy's Chat Room in the 5300 block of West Madison Street just after 1 a.m. Chicago police said a group of people were inside the business when an unknown person fired multiple shots at them before fleeing the scene.

A 19-year-old woman, identified as Ariana Murphy, was shot in the head and was pronounced dead on the scene. A 20-year-old woman suffered a graze wound to her left leg and a graze wound to the face. She was taken to Rush University Medical Center in good condition. Another 19-year-old woman was shot in her left ankle and was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in good condition. A 17-year-old girl was shot in her right leg and was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.  A 16-year-old girl suffered a gunshot wound to her right toe and was taken to Stroger in good condition.

Another mass shooting occurred in the same neighborhood just a few hours later. It left a 16-year-old dead and three others injured. 

According to the Chicago Police Department, the teen and four men were standing on a sidewalk in the 400 block of North Lavergne around 2:50 p.m. when an unknown vehicle pulled up and two people got out. Both then started shooting at the four victims before fleeing northbound on Lavergne. 

The 16-year-old boy was shot in the head and was transported in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he later died. 

A 25-year-old man suffered a graze wound to the thigh, a 21-year-old man was shot in the groin, and a 25-year-old man was shot in the ankle. All self-transported to West Suburban Hospital, where they were listed in good condition.

Saturday

• At 3:40 a.m. in the 2600 block of South Homan, a 34-year-old man was standing outside when he heard gunshots and felt pain in his leg. He went inside to discover he had suffered a graze wound to his right leg. He refused medical services. 
• At 3 a.m. in the 400 block of West Marquette, a 27-year-old man was standing outside when he was shot in his right ankle. He was transported to Little Company of Mary Hospital, where he was stabilized. 
• At 12:20 p.m. in the 8200 block of South Elizabeth, a 41-year-old man was sitting in his home when a "known offender" approached and shot him multiple times in the upper body, police say. The victim was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in "grave condition," according to police. 
  
• At 2:53 p.m. in the 8200 block of South Cottage Grove, a male was on the street when he was shot multiple times. The victim was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition. 
• At 8:52 p.m. in the 300 block of South Kilpatrick, a group of people were standing on the sidewalk when a vehicle driving southbound on Kilpatrick approached, and someone inside started shooting toward the crowd. A 33-year-old woman was shot in the stomach and transported to Stroger Hospital in critical condition. A 38-year-old man was shot in the leg and was transported to Stroger in good condition. 
• At 9:53 p.m. in the 11700 block of South Calumet, a 25-year-old man was shot in the chest twice and once in each hand. Police say they responded to a person shot who was a walk-in at Roseland Hospital and found the victim there. The victim was "very uncooperative" with police and refused to answer any questions, CPD said. 
• At 11:18 p.m. in the 3700 block of West Roosevelt Road, a man, 33, was pumping gas when a white Infiniti approached, and three offenders exited and fired gunshots and rifle rounds at the victim and then fled the area. The victim then drove himself to Mt Sinai Hospital, having suffered nine gunshot wounds to the body and is in critical condition. A second victim, a 31-year-old woman, also in the victim's vehicle, was shot in the right shoulder, ribs, and arm and is currently in critical condition at Mt Sinai Hospital.
  

Sunday 

• At 12:30 a.m., in the 800 block of North Lamon, a man, 41, was standing on the sidewalk with a group of individuals when a fight ensued, and an unknown offender pulled out a handgun and fired shots into the crowd. The victim was shot in the left side of the chest and was taken to Loyola Hospital, where his condition was stabilized. 
• At 12:46 a.m., in the 6700 block of South Cornell, a 19-year-old man was standing outside of a residence when a Jeep approached, and someone unknown fired shots in his direction. The victim was struck in the upper back and was taken to U of C in good condition, but later died.
• At 1:34 a.m., in the 5600 block of South Artesian, a man in his mid-30s was arguing with a known male offender who approached in a black vehicle and fired shots at the victim. The victim suffered a graze wound to the left eyebrow and was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in good condition. A second man, 27, also on the street, was struck by the offender's vehicle, which continued westbound on 57th St. He suffered major head and body injuries and was transported to U of C, where he was pronounced dead a short time later. 
• At 2:50 a.m., in the 500 block of North Ogden, a black sedan approached a tow truck in traffic when someone unknown fired multiple shots from the vehicle and then fled westbound on Grand. The victim, a 35-year-old man, suffered a graze wound to the top of the head and was taken to St Mary's Hospital in good condition. A second male victim was a passenger and also suffered a gunshot wound to the left thigh. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition.
• At 4 a.m., in the 0-100 block of East 47th Street, a 23-year-old woman and two men, 18 and 30, were in a vehicle and stopped at a red light when an unknown vehicle approached the victims. An offender from the other vehicle began shooting in their direction. The woman was taken to St. Bernard in serious condition with a gunshot wound to the left eye. The 18-year-old was also taken to St. Bernard in serious condition with a gunshot wound to the right shoulder. The 30-year-old male was taken to the University of Chicago in serious condition with two gunshot wounds to the back.
• At 4:28 a.m., in the 8200 block of South Ashland, a 32-year-old man was driving when he was struck by a gunshot. The victim's vehicle struck a parked semi-truck. The victim was taken to Christ Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
• At 4:57 a.m. in the 2000 block of West Shakesphere, a 57-year-old man was standing outside when he was struck in the left side by a gunshot. The victim was transported to St. Mary in good condition.
• At 5:55 a.m. in the 1200 block of West 73rd Street, a 17-year-old girl was exiting a residence following an argument when two unknown offenders began firing in the direction of the victim as she attempted to leave. The victim was taken to U of C, where her condition was stabilized with a graze wound to the back.
• At 2:14 p.m. in the 1500 block of West 48th Place, a 29-year-old man was on the street when he was shot in the back by an unknown person. The victim was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition. 

No one is in custody in any of these incidents unless otherwise noted.
